How to deal with your fussy eater at home

As a mother, all my concentration is always on my child and whether or not she is eating the right kind and amount of food and if she is playing enough, if she is growing enough…and the questions don’t end there! The next question is always – what can I do to ensure she is growing right?

Nutrition plays a huge role when it comes to your child’s overall growth and development. Some time ago, I realized that my daughter was not eating well. When this was followed by her lethargy, tiredness and a general low feeling, I started to get concerned. I would see her friends playing and running around and here I couldn’t even get her to finish a glass of milk.

What is fussy eating?

I learnt that fussy eating is when your child rejects food based on its colour, texture, or even shape.[1] Once I understood that I wasn’t doing anything wrong, I calmed myself and read up a lot of articles to help me combat her fussy eating. These articles informed me that fussy eating can lead to growth concerns. That is when I decided it was time to visit her pediatrician.

How I dealt with a fussy eater?

Fussy eating isn’t permanent and there are some things you can do to change these bad eating habits. What I did? I started allowing her to help me in the kitchen. It took time, but she loves to help out now! She cleans the vegetables and fruits and helps with stirring pots. She has started to take interest in the food that she has helped cook. My fussy-eater daughter has improved slowly after we started cooking together. You should try this with your own, and see the result!

Some other things that I tried and they really worked for me was to listen to her and only feed her when she said she was hungry. This was hard to do because all my motherly instincts protested against it but it really helped. And I did not give up. I kept trying, giving her different types of food and even reintroducing previously rejected foods.

And yet there will be days when your child will refuse to cooperate at all! Having a fussy eater at home can create tension for a mother. I know, since I have one at home myself! As parents we know that our child needs high-quality protein for physical growth and vitamins and minerals for brain development in the crucial years. But getting them to eat is a task!

So, what was my next step? I looked for a health supplement that met all the nutrition needs of the fussy eater, and that it had the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) of vitamins and minerals. Since my pediatric told me that proteins are an important part of my child’s diet, I looked for that as well and finally zeroed in on PediaSure.

The health supplement that delivers

I decided to give PediaSure a try. After seeing the visible results in my daughter’s day to day activities, I insist you give it a try too!

  • PediaSure is the pediatrician prescribed No.1 product for child development.
  • The high-quality protein, as well as 37 vital nutrients help to nourish your child’s brain and body.
  • It helps your kids to grow and enhances their immunity.
  • Within the span of 24 weeks, your children’s weight to height ratio will improve.
  • And above all, kids like the taste of this nutritional drink.

With the innumerable benefits in this bottle, I will absolutely give this product a thumbs up.

Do you have a fussy eater at home? If yes, what tricks have worked for you? Tell us in the comments below!

Promotes Creativity: There are a plethora of articles on the internet and almost everyone has to say the same thing. I can concede that it is tough to write on something which isn’t accessible on the internet. Participating in such themes encourages you to think out of the box and generate exceptional content for the users as well.

Push Forward: Drafting on such themes can be overwhelming and challenging at the same time. It gives a kick to your brain to think of something new and originate a brand new content.

Peace of Mind: I have always fond of writing articles and blogs on my website. Engaging in this challenge makes me feel completed and contented. It makes me believe that I deserve a pat on my back.

Perfection: Have you ever heard, “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger?” Yeah right! Such challenges questions my ability and creativity and when I transcend these challenges it leads to one step closer to perfection.

I  participated in these challenge from last years and I have really loved the way how it turned out. In the interiors of Leh Ladakh! Exploring continues on Day 5

Leh Ladakh Diaries Day – 5

The very next day i.e. on day 5, after having breakfast they packed their luggage completely and then left from their tent rooms to visit some of the few places left to visit of Nubra Valley and then will continue their journey back towards Leh. Among those few places left to visit one of them was the most famous, oldest and the best surviving Monastery of Nubra valley of Ladakh named as Diskit Monastery.  The main attraction of that Monastery was the gigantic statue of Lord Buddha built on top of it. It faces the Shyok River towards Pakistan.

Leh LadakhAlmost all tourists who come to Nubra Valley love to Visit Diskit Monastery and experience the magnificent view of Nubra valley from the top of the Monastery. This Diskit Monastery was constructed during the 14th century by Changzem Tserab Zangpo but the construction of a huge 100-foot statue of Lord Buddha was started in the year 2006 and was inaugurated by the well-known priest of Ladakh Dalai Lama in the year 2010. After that almost all tourist visits this Monastery and like the huge magnificent statue a lot. The main part of this Monastery is a prayer hall which has several images of fierce guardians and it also has a huge drum inside it. Since this Monastery was situated at the high altitude it gave very unique and magnificent view of nearby villages and other scenic beauties. My sister and their friends loved this place a lot and also clicked memorable pics.

Leh LadakhSince we all Ladakh is famous for its religious and cultural festivals and also has a rich heritage of folk dance, so the tourists who love to know and enjoy the Ladakhi folk dance and its music do watch the show held by the local people for entertainment purpose. Even my sister and their friends took the tickets to watch the Ladakhi folk dance for some Rs.100 per person.  Four females performed on four songs which were all different with completely different attire. The dance they performed was though very simple but were very charming and enchanting,  basically, the female dancers were singing songs by themselves with just one person playing drum sitting on one side. The songs they were singing were in Ladakhi language, not understood by any one of them, which was obvious. But still they enjoyed the folk dance very much and the best part was that they all requested that drum player to play the famous Ganpati dance music and Garba dance music for which he was hesitating first but then played for all of them, which became an extra enjoyment for them.

Leh LadakhAfter enjoying this they all left for Leh with beautiful memories of Nubra Valley. On the way back they stopped at the point named as Khardung La pass which is believed to be the highest motorable road in the world. It is situated at an altitude of 5,359 meters and is about 39.7 km away from Leh.

All the tourist’s vehicles traveling to Nubra valley from Leh or vice-versa stop at this place to enjoy the mesmerizing view from such a high altitude and for photo clicks. Since it is at high altitude many tourists face the problem of low oxygen level and so should carry oxygen cylinders with them. This place had an Indian Army post and a temple. After leaving this place they reached Leh in the evening with lots of beautiful memories having completely tiring and adventurous journey. After having dinner, they were advised to take rest. Since we were having another tiring and traveling day the very next day waiting for them.

Vacations with kids

Vacations are those days usually for the purpose of recreation or tourism. It is a leave from regular work for a specific trip or journey. During my childhood days, I used to desperately wait for the vacations because during vacations we used to visit our grandparents at our native place.
When I think about my vacations as a child, the life we lived in the village with friends and the food and environment we experienced, cherishes my childhood days and I realize how much we had fun during vacations at that time period which our children of present generation fail to experience.
flying with kids
Nowadays, the scenario has completely changed, people from villages have shifted to live the lifestyle of the cities, there are hardly few people who are still staying in the village areas waiting for their children and Grandchildrens to visit them during their vacations. When no one stays at a native place the question to take our kids at the native place doesn’t arrive.
flying with kids
At present, the parents, today are making their kids join different classes to keep them all time busy. So, the kids of today’s generation just can’t differentiate between vacations and working days because for them all days are same. According to me, this is not completely correct, at some point you are spoiling your kids childhood, you are trying to make them smarter than their age, you are forcing your kids to move with the competitive world forgetting that they are just kids and it’s their age to live without tensions and enjoy each and every day.
It’s not like that you should not send your kids to different classes and make them perfect or should keep them update but the only thing is everything should be done at a proper time and with proper management. During vacations you should allow your kids to enjoy their life on their own, should allow them to do whatever they love to do, through this you will not only get the chance to know the hidden talents of your kids but at the same time you will allow your kids to live stress free life during vacations.
Vacations nowadays are filled with assignments and projects from school whereas in our times we do used to have assignments but they were fun to do. Those assignments were more of learning and gaining knowledge.
The scenario has changed completely when we talk about vacation, nowadays we plan the foreign tour, well in advance according to children’s vacations before going to the native place and enjoying with cousins and living native life.
I still miss my native place where I used to take my pets like cow and Buffalo for morning walk and feed. The most amazing part was diving in the small well. Plucking mangoes, Imlis, custard apple from any farm used to make us run like cats and dogs.
Wish  I get those lovely moments again with angel.

PS: I am participating in the #blogchatterA2Z challenge and today’s letter Is V,  so our article is related to vacations with kids.

Trekking with Kids

Our busy life, tight schedules often leave us with little or no time for our family and kids. I think every person should find ways to spend quality time with your family and the best way to contribute happiness and bring a smile to our loved ones is to take them on trips. One of the best way to help your family understand their environment, tradition, culture, the meaning of adventure and thrill is by taking them on trekking holidays and I think there is no other better place than India.

trekking with kidsIndia indeed has great family trekking places that teach us the importance of nature’s conservation, about different landscape etc. Doing a trek in India also helps us to realize the happiness lies in small gestures and basic things to experience rather than in materialistic things.

Trekking is another word for walking, undertaken with the specific purpose of exploring the scenic beauty. Trekking involves walking through the hills and camping and carrying all basic requirements like food, clothes and shelter with you. Kids and even the youngsters love to go for the trek. You should plan a complete family trip to a place which involves trekking because the experience you will get will be breathtaking. You will love and enjoy to the fullest.

Is it possible to enjoy trekking with kids? Before having kids, trekking was one of my favorite activities whenever I used to travel. I still cherish the memories of climbing mountains and hiking through forests with friends, it was bliss. Despite the physical challenges, it is always one of the best ways of relaxing and experiencing new things. I believe every child should trek.

Travel agents nowadays also provide a complete service for the kids while treking. They keep useful stops with some inevitable snacks for them. Also, few games on the way of treking so that kids can enjoy and their trekking journey becomes more interesting. They provide necessary things for kids and also provides first aid facility whenever essential.

If you like to go on the trek but have to take kids with you, it becomes difficult to handle if kids are of small age. Here are some tips you can follow to solve this problem.

  1. Choose your trek destination wisely.
  2. Allow your kids to stretch themselves and be comfortable.
  3. Pack plenty of food and water.
  4. Start your trek early in the morning with all the protection you required.
  5. Take the camera with you, because the snaps you click will help to motivate your kid in future.
  6. Pack a basic first aid kit.
  7. Take plenty of rest when you going on a trek with the kid.
  8. Have a good company and enjoy your trek experience.

Yes, its true your journey might not be that simple when you go for the trek with kids because there are a lot of potential problems involved in it like will they walk? Will they allow a porter car to carry them? And what if they get sick? And many like this but if you take proper care and plan your trip wisely you will surely have a memorable trip.

Sight Seeing with Kids

Everything has beauty in its own but you can feel and know it only when you see it, is what I believe. Be a traveler, not a tourist, try to gain knowledge from it, try new things, meet new people these are some of the keys to understanding this amazing world. This is what you should teach your kids too.

Selfie with FamilySightseeing means the act of visiting and seeing places and objects by people, especially during holidays. Depending on your interest and the distance you can go for sightseeing using any means of transport. Going for sightseeing during weekends and during holidays is followed by a majority of people nowadays.

There are many beautiful sightseeing places in India and each one is just beautiful in its own way. India has most of the ancient and exotic cultures which makes it exciting for sightseeing.  Mumbai city is well-known for beautiful places to visit. I myself a resident of Mumbai enjoy staying here and hardly miss any weekend going for sightseeing with my family especially with my kid.

SelfieBeing a born and brought-up  Mumbaikar, chances are that your school or parents paid homage to every typical sight seeing with kids spot in Mumbai city, but today when asked to our kids they turn up their noses for those places which we loved exploring with our family. Many just throw up with words and say there’s nothing exciting for kids in Mumbai but since I am a Mumbaikar and have visited a majority of places here so know it that Mumbai city is rich in its heritage and uniqueness.

Points to be considered when you are going for Sight Seeing with kids

  1. Choose the best time to go, which is convenient for you and your kids too.
  2. Choose the best place, the place in which your kid is interested.
  3. Be prepared to be flexible, to face new things happen during the journey.
  4. Take necessary stuff of your kids with you for the journey.

When you go for sightseeing on weekends especially with your kids, it means planning much in advance and pacing yourselves differently, no doubt they will have a lot of fun and will even get a chance to gain new experiences. You should take a very comfortable means of transport for traveling. To avoid them becoming a bookworm and to give them live knowledge about different places, you should send your kids to different educational trips.

#sayyestotheworld

There are several benefits of going for sight seeing with kids:

  1. They get a chance to visit new places and gain more knowledge.
  2. When you take them to museums for a visit, they become more familiar with Indian cultures and traditions.
  3. Visiting historical places with your child helps them to expand their knowledge of what they are learning in school.
  4. If your child is very much interested in any of the particular place you visit, ask him/her to carry a notebook to note down the information which he/she learned from that place.

The benefits you and your kids can reap by visiting different places especially nature, historical places and the museums are immeasurable.

Rides with Kids

Jobs fill your pocket, adventures fill your soul, is a famous saying. It is true for those who love to live life with some adventures and amusement. You should make sure your kids have interest in outdoor play too. Rides with kids make a kid feel relax and refreshed.

Jet SkiesBeing a mother of a six-year daughter I know how crazy kids are today to visit amusement parks and enjoy new and different rides there. From my busy schedule, I have to manage time to take my daughter to the park so that she can enjoy playing rides available there. Yes, it is true it is not possible for everyone to have amusements parks near your residential area because the establishments of amusement parks with new and exciting rides require a lot of areas and also money.

Since I am staying in Mumbai, I find myself pretty lucky in this case because we Mumbaikars are blessed with famous Essel world and Imagica to enjoy several rides for the people of all age groups. Yes, it is not always possible to visit those places frequently but yes we can plan and visit those places with entire family especially with kids. By planning a one day picnic to amusement parks you will get a chance to try and enjoy several rides. I myself feel like going and enjoying the rides which make me live my childhood days again.

For the small children who are not ready for big rides for them, Kiddie rides are available which are especially for small kids. Some of the famous Kiddy attractions nowadays are the Heliport, a unique helicopter tower ride, the Go Gator a friendly kid-sized roller coaster and also a speedway racing car. There are also coin-operated amusements rides which are available at different amusement parks, malls etc where you can take your kids to have a new experience.

Taking your kids for rides involves a lot of risks if not taken proper care of them. The most common way children got hurt is by falling off or against a ride and in that case, they can even hurt their necks, head or can damage their face. Rides at restaurants and malls can be more dangerous for young children because they have a hard surface and lack child restraints.

Jet Skies Not all the kids love rides because many are scared and many don’t have the confidence or some may also have health issues like giddiness and vomiting. So, here at this point, I would like to give few suggestions: Depending on the age of your kid, they are allowed to go on a particular ride so right from the beginning you should make your kid enjoy small rides so that he/she can gain confidence and enjoy rides at every particular age. As a mom, I keep proper note of the strengths and weakness of my kid and then allow her to go on rides accordingly. One should not force your kid if he/she is not interested in rides, as I mentioned before not everyone likes to go on rides.

PS: I am participating in the #blogchatterA2Z challenge and today’s letter Is R, so our article is related to Rides with kid.

Overnight Travel

“Life begins at the end of your comfort zone”  by anonymous.

People love to travel at their own comfort. Many people love to travel at night and many don’t like. Different people have a different perspective on this. Presently, with a complete busy life, people nowadays prefer to travel during the night to save their daytime and to utilize their night time. Doesn’t traveling at night always affect your health…? I think it does because night time is the time made for rest, it is the time when the majority of people take rest after a long tiring day so that they can have a fresh and healthy morning a very next day. Overnight travel has both pros and cons.

But there are also some people especially the youngsters they love to travel overnight just for the sake of enjoyment. But isn’t it risky to leave your children to travel overnight..? almost daily we hear the news of drink and drive and rash driving by the youngsters especially during nights. Also, most of the accidents happen during night travel. Yes, it is true you should nurture your child in such a manner that he/she can be independent but care should be taken that they should not cross their limits.

If considering it in a positive manner, Overnight travel turns to be fruitful in many cases. Like, by early arriving in the morning, you have the full day for sight-seeing and on the other hand if you reach in the afternoon or later, your almost half the day is wasted and the remaining day you prefer to stay in the hotel room and take rest. Also in the case of day to day traveling it is better to travel overnight and reach your destination early morning so that you get the entire day to finish up with your work.

What if you have to travel overnight with kids? The situation will be completely different, you will have to think from the point of view of your kids. If kids night sleep is disturbed, your very next day will be completely ruined and so will your trip. So, when you are planning an overnight travel with kids you should take care of few things.

  1. You should make sure your kid is not tired and completes his/her sleep before the day on which you are about to travel.
  2. You should make sure to take kids favorite music albums or lullaby so that they get sound sleep.
  3. Your kids should be completed well before going on a trip. They should be ready to face the situation.
  4. The destination and the mode of transport you choose for overnight travel should be of your kids choice if possible.(they should be comfortable with it.)
  5. If you  have new born or a toddler always make sure you carry essential things .

As with every new day the night comes, with many advantages, the disadvantages cannot be neglected. If not emergency you should avoid night travel especially when you are with kids.

Navigation

Navigation is the term of art used by navigators to perform navigation tasks. In a broader sense, it means any skill or study that involves the determination of position and direction. There are several navigation techniques which help to locate the navigator’s position. Being a traveler mom ,my most of traveling goes in understanding and navigation. This helps to plan the drive so as to get safe and smoith journey .

Today, because of the presence of satellite navigation and Global Positioning Systems (GPS), to travel by roads have become much simpler. Remember the days when we used to ask directions from roadside tea-stalls or any passing people to reach our destination, but this is not the case today because the electronic gadgets with navigators provide you the views of the even the smallest lanes of the remote locations. Benefits of using navigation:

  1. It gives a real-time location and also enables users to chart routes on your immediate position.
  2. Just you need to type your destination and the device selects the shortest route to reach there.
  3. Traveling to new places becomes easy.
  4. While traveling if you are in need of something or if you are in an emergency, it is easy to find the nearest chemist, ATM’s, restaurants or hospitals or any other service.
  5. Navigation applications have proved to be a handy tool for traveling and searching.
  6. Another great benefit of these applications is connectivity.
  7. The other thing is it saves a lot of your time and gives you a lot of comfort regarding everything.
  8. To help with navigation, there are several applications which are easily available in the market and that too free.

Navigation applications and other uses of smartphones are also used by the kids and youngsters too at a very extreme level. Care should be taken of your kids so that they don’t misuse the service provided by the navigation applications. As we all know every coin has two sides if any modern inventions not used properly and for genuine and known reasons can also prove a curse to you.

PS: I am participating in blogchatter A2Z challenge and today’s letter Is N ,so our articles is related to Navigation  application.
