Leh ladakh

Monastery at Leh-Ladakh

Beginning the day two with glooming sunrise, after having breakfast they went for sight-seeing of several places at Leh which includes Thiksey Monastery, Sindhu Darshan, Sindhu Ghat, Rancho school, Shanti Stupa, Hall of Fame Military Museum, etc. It was a traveler bus through which they traveled throughout their entire journey. Firstly, they visited Thiksey Monastery which is also called as Thiksey Gompa. It is one of the largest and most famous Monastery in Ladakh and is located at an altitude of almost 3,600m in the Thiksey village. Thiksey Monastery has a beautiful architectural design blended together with red, ochre and white colour. They also saw the wheel of life, which you can rotate and can make any wish of your choice. It is also one of the architecturally grand Buddhist Monastrey in Ladakh. To reach at the top of this Monastrey, one has to climb about 200 stairs. My sister and some of her friends faced altitude sickness problem since as you climb the stairs, you are a reaching a much higher altitude level. They were already prepared for this, since were guided by the tour guide about it. Inside the Thiksey Monastrey there were several monks which are also called as Lama’s, they stay and workship inside the Monastrey. There was an entry fees for the Monastrey, which is used by the Monastrey trust for the maintenance of the Monastrey. She said though this place was a bit out of leh but was totally worth to visit since it has mesmerizing views of the surrounding area. Overall the location was very pleasant, colourful at the same time was very peaceful too.

After visiting Thiksey Monastrey, they all went to Rancho School. This is a school which became famous after the release of Aamir khan’s movie 3 Idiots. The original name of this school is Druk Padma Karpo School also known as Druk White Lotus School. On arrival at the entrance of the school, they all were taken inside the campus by a guide. Since there were already a group of people visiting the School. My sister and her friends were asked to wait for about half an hour in one of the special classroom can say information room of the school. The classroom was having several things to purchase like T-shirts, refrigerator magnets, caps, books, pen, pencils and several other things all having some message engraved on them. It is said the money they collect by selling those several things, they used it for the education purpose of the several poor students of the same school. There were several pictures also showing the history and several achievements of the School. After some 35-40 minutes, the guide took all of them to visit the campus. A strict instruction was given to all of them, not to make noise and take photographs at the restricted area, since the School was going on. The first thing they saw was a café, where they offer coffee and few snacks which were chargeable. Then they went to the 3 Idiots movie spot which is said to be the most popular spot among the tourists, were you can give several pose and click various photographs. This School was conferred as one of the most beautiful schools in the world by BBC London in the year 2016. The tour guide also said about the damage the School faced by the flood and cloudbursts in August 2010, which destructed the School completed.

It is famous for its scenic beauties consisting of rocky Mountains, sandy landscapes and greenery everywhere with the flow of the Sindhu River. The Sindhu River also known as River Indus originates near Mansarover Lake in Tibet passes through several Indian regions and then reaches to Pakistan. It is said to be a holy place. Since many people come and worship at this place calling it as Sindhu Darshan. Cultural Programmes are organized at this place by many tourists people which includes sight-seeing, campfire, etc. Apart from this Sindhu Ghat is also famous for River Rafting, which gives a perfect opportunity for the adventure and thrilling activities lover.
