Listening to Podcasts with Kids
As you know, Lockdown has increased and you might be running out of ideas to keep your kids and yourself sane during the quarantine. But, we never run out of ideas and I am always there to help you out by sharing my experience with the parents.
In the series of fun activities to do with your kids during the quarantine period, the next alphabet is L and I have chosen L for listening to Podcasts. I know it is a little different from all the other activities that I have suggested. But, nowadays, there are a lot of Podcasts which helps to teach you a lot of things.
It’s more like modern age storytelling to your kids. And, it will keep them engrossed with the story while you can work or you can listen with them as well.
Why Listening to Podcasts With Kids?
If you are a parent, you know it can be tiring to keep your kids off the phone’s screen, isn’t it? I know there are a lot of things on the internet but finding kid-friendly podcasts can be a little difficult but it can be a great way to engage your kids during the lockdown period.
Material Required for Listening to Podcasts With Kids
For listening to podcasts with kids, all you need is a working internet connection, phone (or laptop/tablet) and choice of good podcast playlist.
How to “ Listening to podcasts With Kids”
There is no strategy to follow while listening to podcasts with kids. If you want a great choice of kid-friendly podcasts then you can search it on google and you will get a plethora of best podcasts that you can listen to with your kids.
Currently, there are top 3 podcasts that I have been listening to my daughter, Angel.
- KidNuz : News can be boring for kids. But, Kidnuz makes the news interesting for the kids. And the best part, they have a quick quiz for your kids which can be interesting for your kids.
- What If World: Kids are super inquisitive about everything around them. And, this podcast makes kid-friendly stories based on the ‘What if’ questions.
- Brains On: If your kids have a knack for science, then you must listen to this podcast. It helps to encourage a kid’s curiosity by answering the kid’s questions.
Key Learnings
If I don’t have the time while listening to podcasts with my daughter, then after each episode I tend to ask the summary of the episode and it makes her excited to tell what all she has learned through the podcasts.
My Overall Experience
With the limited exposure to school, these podcasts can be interesting for the new age kids. Angel had a great time listening to them. If you need a list of all the favorite podcasts then let me know and I will write a blog about this!
