Travel in style with InstaCuppa products this summer
Have you ever heard of InstaCuppa products?? Do you know exactly what are they?? Are you curious to know what I’m talking about!!! Then read and follow below.
Summer is approaching!! And you can probably feel the heat already, isn’t it? Being Mumbaikar and a local train traveler, I know how it feels to stay in hot. We burn liked boiled egg. Be it in your home, or in office or in local train. You just need one thing is water, drinks and juices.
As a mom, travel blogger and a housewife, I keep my family hydrated and Healthy. I ask my daughter and my hubby to drink liquid in 2 hours interval. I make sure that we take a minimum of 2 litre of water or liquid intake. But in summer we take more water and liquid things to keep ourselves hydrated all the time. After giving thought that is the water intake is enough, don’t we need essential vitamins and minerals to fulfill other requirements for body? In summer we usually see we release more sweat, which is good in one way as it cool down your body, but also some essentials salts too get evaporated along with water. Sweating is most common reason for skin disease like skin rashes and infections. To overcome this issue during summer, I make detox and energy rich water. But to make fruit infused water, it become tedious job and hence prefers to buy ready-made juices and soft drinks. I am sure you also must be doing same. Make energy water and keep it in jar. Like, I used to slice fruits in a jar with water and every time strain and give it to the family. But then comes one savior and that is
InstaCuppa Cold brew infusion Pitcher-
Now let me first tell you about the brand “InstaCuppa”. “InstaCuppa” is a brand with healthy innovations. It was started by a software engineer from a small south Indian town. His idea behind these innovations was to help everyone drink healthy, tasty and nutritional boosting drink anywhere. InstaCuppa products are always lightweight, durable and portable accessories which help you enjoy your favorite energy drink anywhere be it your gym or your jogging garden, or could be your office. Healthy drink not only gives you water content for your body but replenish important minerals and vitamins, lost in hot scorching summer. Instacuppa products are meant to reimagine the flavours. They are dedicated to offer products & resources for a flavor rich natural beverage experience.
Now let me take you back to the product I was talking about and that is: InstaCuppa 3 in 1

Slice fruits which you want to make drink for.
Slice Lemon slices.

Some pieces of Cinnamon
Take filtered water in big jar.
Put all the ingredients and fruits in a infuser jar.
Now immerse infuser Jar in main Jar and close it tightly and keep it in room temperature for 2-3 hours. For chilling cold, you can add ice cubes to it, either in infuser jar or directly to main jar. Your energy drink is ready. Watch the below video to know how to do.
Time consuming: Yes as it takes 2-3 hours to get your energy drink ready.
But you can keep on refilling again and again, till you feel the taste has reduced. You can add fresh fruits and water as in when required. I am truly satisfied with this product and I hope my summer goes well. This product is best when you are travelling with kids and they don’t want to drink plain water. Give them energy rich drink which is homemade.
Second InstaCuppa product which I am using is InstaCuppa French press coffee maker.
French Press coffee Maker-
Let me tell you the usage first. Are you a coffee lover, then you will well understands it real usage. I love coffee as it is my stress buster and real aroma of coffee comes. The processed coffee using pressure to get the mother liquor of pressed coffee taste better than just normal boiled coffee. You can also call it as a thick concoction of coffee. Why we love coffee at cafeteria, because they have big machines to press the coffee beans and get the exact extract of Coffee, which is require to get added to the milk. So, that the coffee gets brewed completely into the milk. That’s why we do love café style coffee. This would make our life better because brewing on a gas makes my coffee bitter and gives me different taste every time.
Let me explain you How to use this French pressure
Take coffee beans and grind it coarsely.
Take 1tbs of coarse grind coffee for every 100ml of water.
Slowly pour water in a jar (Make sure the water is 90’c Hot). Then simply stir with stirrer.
Let the coffee brew for 4-5 mins and press the plunger down.
This will separate the solid and liquid from each other and stops brewing process.
Now add boiled milk if you want to make milk coffee or just French pressed black coffee.
High grade borosilicate glass, which shows you Red colour of Coffee.
3 part superior filter so that you get clear coffee with no particle in it.
Stainless steel mesh filter-this is very thin mesh which only allows the liquid to come out.
Smooth plunger mechanism to give you good press plus to separate the coffee powder from it.
FDA approved component-so its harmless.
100% BPA free.
Heat resistant handle.
Easy to pour, to avoid spilling.
600 ml capacity 6 cups in one time.
Ease in cleaning.
For me this comes as an instant coffee maker with less of mess.
REVIEW: I give 10/10 for all the features as I have used it and it’s so impressive.
Now, the third InstaCuppa product which is one of my favorite is InstaCuppa premium milk frother.
InstaCuppa Premium Milk Frother-
This is cutest InstaCuppa product of all I have. This is so small, compact and sling that you can carry while you are travelling. First of all this is battery oriented and hence you don’t need electricity for frothing. The machine works on mechanical process and hence the froth is easy and shock proof. So, basically this product is used to froth milk for your coffee or you can also make buttermilk.
How to operate :
Put up batteries and use directly into milk cup to start its frothing effect in milk
Easy to clean.
Very good quality of the body.
Non inert material.
Works on battery.
Comes with wall socket to hang on wall.
So slim to carry in your pocket as well.
I can’t stay away from using it now.
4) Vacuum Insulated Water bottle-
Now this was the most stylish, tall, huge and very useful InstaCuppa product. This Vacuum water is made internally from good stainless steel which double wall vacuum installation. This water bottle keeps original liquid flavors as its BPA free, sweat free, lead proof, high-grade 1818 stainless steel. Keeps water hot for 12 hours and cold water for 24 hours.
This product also comes with three accessories that is infuser land of jar for limes and two lids, one for drinking and one for closing, so that you can travel with it anywhere. This water bottle carries good volume of water so that you are always hydrated with energy drink.
HOW TO USE IT: This InstaCuppa product is east to use like normal water bottle, just add fruits if u want to use it’s as a infused water while travelling so that you can get enough supply of vitamin C. You can use cold or hot water as per your choice, while travelling, the temperature of water never changes
Quality: high-grade Tritan outside and stainless steel inside.
Leakproof: Keeps the liquid on same temperature as it was filled.
Overall, these 4 InstaCuppa products have made my kitchen with more innovations. I am sure now, my guest would be more happy and jealous too as I own these beauties.

Fair man, sitting under the tree, with a black hat and long jacket, playing a soft music on his violin. A passersby journo looked at him sharply and found as Mr George, the richest man of the city, sitting quietly with out any security…
He calmly asked “sir, if I’m not wrong, are you the owner of X brand”.
He replied softly by nodding his head.
Journo asked him again, may I know why are you sitting here?
Mr George replied ” Holding a seat near this tree so that when I die I get a shade of this tree, which is grown on my mom’s cemetery. She was the one who took me in her arms for the first time and I want her to hold me again for the last time when I die”.
Journo had no words to speak after that. He walks away with deep thoughts.

Not long ago, a friend of mine experienced major bodily changes post pregnancy – weight gain, fatigue, hair loss and mood swings. Very easily these were attributed to Post Pregnancy effects. After a suggestion from her relative, she underwent a Thyroid Test. The test results turned out to be positive for Thyroid Disorder. Today, regular medication is bringing her thyroid imbalance under control. She got lucky with early detection.
If given a thought, how many such people are present out there, completely ignorant of these signals their body must be giving and merely attributing it other more prevalent causes.
1 out of 10 Indians have thyroid disorder but over 70% of India’s population stay unaware, hence undiagnosed.
Common reasons for ignoring thyroid symptoms:
1) Most people think it’s hereditary, hence can’t affect them
2) Probably it’s the sedentary lifestyle giving weight gain
3) I am crossing 30 so anyways hormones are changing
4) It’s just a minor weight gain, why should I go for test
A more prevalent symptom is thyroweight – weight gain with tiredness. Even though the most common one, this too gets easily ignored for its generic nature.
Celeb Talk – Taking Initiatives and Spreading Awareness
We all follow Bollywood irrespective of the genres we love, we all do sometimes look up to these Bollywood Celebrities. When Deepika Padukone upfront spoke about her struggle when she went through Depression, we all took Depression seriously. On the occasion of the Thyroid awareness month, an awareness campaign was organized, where Dr. Shehla Shaikh, who is a leading Endocrinologist with 25 years of experience and associated with major Hospitals like Saifee, Wockhardt threw light on interesting facts around Thyroid disorder.
Also supporting the cause was well-known Bollywood celebrity Juhi Chawla. She shared her experience on Thyroid disorder and how to overcome it. She said, “Thyroid disorder is not something you cannot treat, just get a test done and if found positive, consult your doctor and start your pills as prescribed.” She also shared example of her husband who is a thyroid patient, and leading a healthy life by following a simple medication. The panel discussion led to one conclusion that women who majorly suffer from thyroid disorder, tend to ignore themselves, so Juhi added, “Be a bit selfish, and take care of yourself first and #RuleOutThyroweight”.
These examples might have motivated you definitely. So how about you getting yourself and the loved ones around you checked if these symptoms persist.
Types of Thyroid Disorder:
Thyroid disorder can be classified into two types:
Hyperthyroidism – It is a condition in which thyroid gland becomes overactive leading to excess thyroid hormone production. Hypothyroidism – It is a condition in which thyroid gland becomes underactive leading to less thyroid hormone production
Hypothyroidism is a far more common disorder than Hyperthyroidism:
Unexplained weight gain
Slow heart rate
Weakness, nervousness, anxiety
Dry hair, hair loss
Change in menstrual cycles
Irritability, mood swings, etc.
If hypothyroidism is not treated timely or is not taken seriously can lead to cardiovascular and neurological disorders. For more information please visit http://thyroidindia.com/thyroweight/
Let’s be more cognizant of the physical and mental changes happening within and around us and come together to #ruleoutthyroweight

Celebrating my valentines day in Sailing boat with PlanBuddy
Love is eternal and so is the day it is celebrated on. So NO I am not late to wish you all. In fact, the reason I am posting this article about Valentine’s Day a bit late is because I was nostalgic about the way I spend my Valentine’s Day. Did you read my blog on Gift ideas for valentines day. Did you guys have a good time spending it with your loved ones or loved self? If you did or even if you did not do read on so that you could get some good ideas to spend a day the way I did, or may be just a good read to recommend to your friends or relatives. Go on. Read about it in detail.
#Love flourish on #Valentine’s Day
Mesmerised, Astonishing, Wonderful, Beautiful, and how more amazing our love can be. Although just a day dedicated to this jaw-dropping feeling and to celebrate romance would not be enough. Although we celebrate life every day we do love Birthdays and we do party and have a good time with our family and friends and loved ones but we do celebrate life every single time. I guess all my readers would agree to that. With that point covered, coming back to my experience of the way I celebrated Valentine’s Day, how did you celebrate it? Some of my friends wrote to me that they went to a resort and just relaxed their way out to rekindle the romance with their partners. Some of them went to do paragliding and yes after reading my article about Tandem he made sure he checked it off his bucket list. He sure had a great time with his family there. Lastly some of my friends just sat back at home watching cricket or Netflix.
What my Imagination led to…
“Love is a canvas furnished by nature and embroidered by imagination.” This famous saying by one of the famous French philosopher made me think that how could I possibly bring my imagination alive and make this Valentine’s Day a memorable one. So I grabbed a pen and paper and started jotting down my options that me and my better half would love to do. After several cancellations and scribbling and of course Google(ing). I went ahead with my heart and my heart said Mumbai. We have loved Mumbai since ever and the very essence of Mumbai is its proximity to the sea. So there I was my imagination put to good use, I finally had an agenda for a splendid Valentine’s Day.
The motive of celebrating vday
After getting the essentials and wearing something good for the lovely Valentine’s Day. We were on the move. Sailing at Colaba was the first thing on my agenda. So there we went sailing into the beautiful Mumbai Harbour. This even made me think about if I want to make sailing a bigger part of my life. Then I remembered I have so many places to visit and write for you people. A lot of pictures were clicked as memories need to be captured so that we could smile looking at them later. When we halted at Apollo Bunder we then decided to take some time to see the classic monuments of our nations. Something never age they say and the Gateway of India has not been any less fascinating since ever. The Gateway of India is an arch monument built during the 20th century in Bombay, India. The monument was erected to commemorate the landing of King George V and Queen Mary at Apollo Bunder on their visit to India in 1911 and continues to amaze us all and make every Mumbaikar proud.
After clicking the classic picture at Gateway of India we still hadn’t got enough of our sailing adventure. But we weren’t planning to do the same thing again because what’s the fun in that, right? So we decided to go private this time. Hire a private boat and go sailing. But as they say sudden plans also need to be planned. Everyone wanted to enjoy the Mumbai waters and unfortunately for us the Private Boats were booked. Thankfully I did my research well and I ended up with something called as PlanBuddy. Now PlanBuddy is a company that helps us plan our outings by giving certain options and discounts. It worked wonders for me and I finally had my private sailing for two hours. They booked for us a Grey eagle named private sailing boat meant just exclusively for us. Those two hours with the breeze kissing my cheeks and away from all the hustle-bustle of our lives. I could rekindle my romance with my partner and feel the happiness that, that particular romantic moment got for me.
some me time
feel the breeze
Of Women and Shopping…
From that beautiful sailing experience we went on to shop something as Jewellery is something that is very fascinating at Colaba. After a few hours of window shopping I could not find anything exclusive or something I was looking for. There was nothing in particular on my mind but as we strolled through the shops we did talk a lot and I was sort of enjoying it more than shopping. As they “Sometimes” Women are unpredictable. But everything was so eye-catchy and having a “YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY WEAR THIS” tag kept a heavy weighted stone on my heart and I went on and bought myself a nice dress and some very authentic Afghani Earrings. Oh!! They were gorgeous.
A Valentine’s Day Date without a dinner? Sounds incomplete right. So as Plan buddy had decided to complete the date with some good food and yes a mandatory Valentine’s Day Dinner Date. Colaba has been an excellent option for food with loads of classy restaurants to choose from. The Table Restaurant is what Plan buddy opted for. This is one of the best restaurants serving some really good and tasty food with best options for Vegetarians, Non-Vegetarians and Eggetarians as well. So why did they choose this restaurant? Recently, I had read that the Table restaurant has recently opened their farm to the public with hands-on workshops where alongwith Adrienne Thadani of Fresh and Local, participants discuss design of the farm, build permaculture beds, plant seeds and transplant seedlings, and end with a lunch made of freshly harvested crop from the restaurant. So i suggested them and we had our dinner there.
As Calm as it could be…
After having lip-snacking dishes and desserts to savour our taste. Just when he thought it’s over I had to add a personal touch. So just after travelling for some further distance we landed up at Marine drive. There we spoke about how we used to celebrate our Valentine’s Day to how much we enjoyed today. Being thankful to what we are today we enjoyed the beautiful view of Marine Drive, singing some classic Valentine Day Special Songs. It was so calm, so peaceful there that we kept talking for hours and found ourselves trapped in that moment of Love.
Memories to live with…
As much as we did not want the day to end we all just have 24 hours to spend no matter how good or bad it possibly could be. As we came back home we were very tired and exhausted (as anyone would think we would be). But honestly we had enjoyed every moment to the fullest with loads and loads of memories captured not only on camera or our phone but also in our minds till we last. Those memories which we would live with and cherish always. I hope you all do something like this and grab some memories to cherish and live with and hey once again a very Happy Valentine’s Day. And yes last but not least i gifted him 3D lithophane gift which is very close to our heart. THANKS to Plan buddy for the special planning to make my valentines a sailing and special one.
Celebrate Holi festival with homemade organic Colors in 2018
Holi festival is called as a festival of colors; it signifies the good over evil. People all over India celebrate this festival with great fun and joy. Holi festival is celebrated by burning woods as a bonfire in front of our house, which is related to burning of Holika, also called as Holika dahan. This was a historical event in hindu culture and tradition. On the very next day of Holi which is called as Dulhendi, people celebrate by smearing each other with Colors especially Gulaal and also splashes colored water and water balloons at each other. This festival is celebrated in the remembrance of fun Krishna used to have playing Holi with the gopis at Gokul. Although I enjoy the splash of colors and this colorful festival but I am always scared of the chemicals used in the colors. The Holi colors available in the market are very harmful and are made up of harsh chemicals, most of them are made up of oxidized metals and industrial dyes which can cause serious health and skin issues. However, this should not discourage any of us from celebrating such a fun-filled festival and should not restrict us sitting at home instead to be more protective and alert I suggest people to opt for Non Toxic, organic and natural Homemade Holi Colors. Many stores now offer natural colors but you can also make them at Home. Here are some of the Eco friendly, natural and Herbal Homemade Holi Powder recipe’s which are very safe for everyone including kids.
One of the basic methods of creating Holi color powder is mixing any flour (maida or wheat) with food colors, but even food colors do have chemicals nowadays so it is better to opt for natural one. Check out how you can make good organic holi colors at home.
Red Color signifies sensuality and purity. In India, red color signifies a lot of things like it is the most preferred color for marriages and birth of child, even Women wear’s a Red bindi/tilak during festivals and ceremonies. You can use Red SandalWood Powder or Raktachandan as a red Holi color powder. Also, you can mix dry rose petals powder with corn flour to make red color and also Red Hibiscus flower dried in the shade can be used in the powder form. To get the Wet Red Color you can add water to above powder till it gets into a uniform solution. Best way to get easiest red colour is to make beetroot juice plus cornflour paste ,dry it under sun and then powder it to get fresh color.
Green Color signifies life and happiness. To make a natural Green Holi Color Powder mix an equal quantity of pure Henna Powder with flour. To make wet Green color take fresh neem leaves and boil them in water, allow the mixture to cool and remove the excess water then dilute the remaining mixture as per requirement. To make in excessive quantities take all green leaves from garden and paste it and dry it under sun ,after drying just crush the paste with your hand and get uniform powder.
Yellow Color signifies knowledge and learning. To make Yellow Holi Color Powder mix two part of turmeric powder with four parts of besan flour. For a water based color, boil Marigold flowers along with the pomegranate peels in water.
Blue Color signifies bravery and determination. To make natural Blue Holi Color Powder dry and powder the Neeli gulmohar or Jacaranda flower which blossoms in summer. For water based Blue Color crush blueberries and soak it in water.
Brown Color can be used as substitute to Black Color since many consider black color as inauspicious. To make natural Brown Holi Color Powder, mix 1 part of Henna Powder with 4 parts of Amla Powder.
6. Black color-
Though not considered auspicious for festival, This is easiest to make as it helps to purify your skin . yes i am talking about charcaol powder, its harmless and purify and clean your skin.
TIps: Since most of natural colors are made using fresh vegetables and flowers, so they easily get spoiled. To keep them stay keep them in refrigerator or use then fresh. Each person or infant is different, before applying color, always do a patch test.
If we a citizen of India understands the ill-effect of synthetic colors and use organic colors, we will not only ensure a safe celebration for our friends and relatives but also will feel happy to have contributed for well-being of environment too.
For Nature Pixel Organic and Natural Holi Colors made by Disabled people you can call/whatsapp 9910208007 or can write at [email protected]. It contains a pack of 3 colors each of 100gm for rs.260. The colors are made naturally by disabled people and the flowers they use are collected from the temple.
Holi is the festival of celebration and relishing food. Different communities in India celebrate Holi by preparing different Holi special food. The most popular and loved by all is Thandai with addition of Bhaang. North Indians prepare Shakarpara’s and gujjias while Maharashtrians make puran poli and Gujaratis make sweets like kheer, basundi and Halwa. Here present few Holi special dishes for Holi festival. Do read my blog on makar sankranti special recipes.
Apple Coconut Kheer for Holi festival
1 peeled and grated apple
½ cup grated coconut
1 and ½ cup milk
½ cup condensed milk
1 tsp ghee
Few dry fruits for garnishing
Heat the ghee in a pan and then add grated apple in it. Stir it until the apple part becomes semi-dry. Turn off the flame and allow it cool on room temperature. In another pan keep the milk on boil till it reduces ¾ of its volume. During this process stir sometimes in between and then add condensed milk. Allow it to boil for few more minutes and taste the sweetness if required then either sugar or condensed milk. Add the dry fruits. Mix well and cook for few more minutes. Turn off the flame and take the prepared rabri in a bowl and allow it to cool on room temperature. Then add the cooked apple. Mix it well and keep it in refrigerator and serve chilled.
Tip: With the normal apple kheer I have added a twist by using coconut which not only increases the taste of the dish but also have anti-viral, anti- bacterial properties in it. It’s great for hair and for skin. This dish is highly nutritious with vitamins and minerals in it.
2. Sugarcane Juice Kanji Wada-
Sugarcane juice 250ml
Asafoetida (hing) ¼ tsp
Red chilli 1/4tsp
Mustard seeds 2 tsp
Soaked urad dal 1/4cup
Salt to taste
Oil to fry
Mix entire sugarcane with the considered water. Then add salt, hing, mustard seeds and red chilli powder one by one and stir it properly. Keep this ready kanji (drink) one side for 2 to 3 days when it becomes sour. After 3 days when the kanji becomes ready then we will fry and add wada to the kanji (drink). To make the wada’s, blend the soaked dal in a grinder by adding few water while grinding. When the mixture gets grind completely, whisk it and then from this batter make the wada and put them in the heating oil. While making the wada the batter should not be very thick else the wada’s will not be soft. Fry the wada’s in the boiling oil and then mix them in the ready Kanji. Serve it cool.
Tip: Normally Kanji wada are made using water but to give extra taste and energy I have used sugarcane juice. Sugarcane juice Kanji wada is a unique combination of sweet and sour taste. It works as a great appetizer. If you don’t like sweet kanji wada you can use water in place of sugarcane juice. Be careful to keep the kanji in clean place, otherwise it may get contaminated.
2 tbsp Thandai Masala (available in market or can be made at home)
2tsp china grass in powdered form(optional)
1 cup milk
2 tbsp sugar
1 cup whipped cream
Few drops lemon juice
In a small pan add milk and china grass powder and ½ cup of water. Heat the pan and keep stirring the ingredients on medium flame. Allow the mixture to boil. Once the china grass starts dissolving add sugar and stir it properly. Now add the Thandai masala, and while adding stir it continuously. Allow the mixture to boil on slow flame till it starts thickening. One the mixture gets thickening sieve the entire mixture into a bowl (u will find undissolved particles of china grass left). Now take the strained mixture into a steel bowl and then keep it on a vessel containing ice cubes till the mixture gets cool completely. After that whisk the mixture thoroughly avoiding any lumps to form and then add whipped cream and lemon juice and whisk it properly. Take the ready Thandai Mousse in serving glasses and allow it to deep freeze for few hours before serving.
Tip: Thandai is very rich and healthy drink since is rich in dryfruits especially almonds and pistachios. Thandai Mousse is an Indian festive twist to classic western dessert mousse. It is a complete nutritious delight. Bhaang can be added to Thandai for intoxicating effect.
1 cup soaked chana dal
2 cup basmati rice
3-4 chopped green chillies
Few curry leaves
Few garlic chopped (optional)
Salt to taste
Pinch of turmeric
1/3 cup water
Chopped coriander leaves
1 medium chopped onion(optional)
Soak rice and daal for 4-5 hours. Grind chillies and garlic together. Make the paste of daal and rice mixture but it should not be very fine. Mix all the ingredients well. Heat oil in a pan then take a round spoon which you use for dosa. With the help of that spoon release the batter gently one by one. Allow it to fry golden brown from both the sides. Serve it hot.
Tip: This dish is originated at Bihar and Jharkhand. It is best served with aloo curry and green chutney. It tastes crunchy and is can be mild sweet if you add sugar to it.

My journey… Nirvana Adventures : Inception of a beautiful journey’s idea…
Have you wondered how movies inspire us? Well I am not speaking about the Horror genres that terrify us and bring out the best goose bumps ever. Here my reference is to the ever beautiful movies you never get tired of watching like Into the Wild (Hollywood film released in 2007), Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (how the entire group travels to Manali for that trekking experience in the Himalayas) or Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (ZNMD) where three friends decide to go on an adventurous trip. Sipping on coffee, watching out the clean blue sky with some tint of white clouds here and there what reminded me was the amazing awe filled experience of Farhan Akhtar sky diving in the sky. Could I do that? Of course I can but that would take time. Would that be a possibility that I could do this near Mumbai? Well not sky diving at least paragliding at Nirvana Adventures is what I have been wanting to do from a long, long time.
Asked a lot of friends but they could not help. Finally Google suggestion worked out wonders and Nirvana Adventures Paragliding Club is what I came across. Keep reading as today I am going to make you walk through an amazing adventure I had at Fly nirvana, one of the best and oldest schools of Paragliding which is almost 20-year-old, ISO CERTIFIED SCHOOL, and did a Tandem Paragliding and what an experience that turned out to be.
At Nirvana Adventures they make sure you don’t go home disappointed. Tandem paragliding team ensured that I got the experience, thrill and excitement of paragliding without having to learn it, myself. What this means is that I enjoyed the experience of flying like a pro for ten minutes or more without any training or any kind of previous experience, thanks to an experienced tandem pilot, state of the art equipment and breathtaking sites (which I am never going to forget).
Tit for Tat
Yes, what you do is what you get. So what did I do? I let the pilot do his work. What did I get in return? I enjoyed the ride and savoured the amazing experience, as I settled for nothing less than a bird’s-eye view of beautiful hills and long and far stretched green fields. Well you do visit gardens and fields and forests but very few people who dare to fly get to see this top-view. It was indeed a wonderful experience. Those 10-15 minutes in the air made me realize, how beautiful the earth is!!! How the mesmerizing beauty of our mother nature comes out to be when we go up and watch this beauty come alive.
Word from the owner…
When I got a chance to speak with the owner herself it turned out to be an amazing conversation. She said, “Nirvana Adventures came into being in 1997 to fulfil your dreams of free flight by offering a safe standardized and encouraging atmosphere to anyone interested in taking up the sport of paragliding as a hobby. It all began with the discovery of ideal paragliding sites in 1996. With time, energy and dedication Nirvana Adventures became a pioneering paragliding school that in turn led to the transformation of Kamshet into a world paragliding destination. When Nirvana Adventures first began, there was a lot to achieve. The area was remote and paragliding was unheard of in the region. There was a dire need to concentrate and focus on creating basic infrastructure to meet the immediate needs.
Nirvana Adventures actively involved the local village community at all stages – from making tea and drinking water available, supervised parking, providing ISD telephone service and initiating the use of the local jeeps as transport. It was a Herculean task indeed! Every year Nirvana Adventures commemorates the decade long journey undertaken together with the local community, our students and visitors.
Since 1997, Nirvana Adventures has always extended a hand to anyone who’s interested in joining the magical world of paragliding. Today we’re a full-fledged adventure company who teach, cherish and share some unbelievable paragliding and outdoor adventure experiences to numerous students and visiting pilots from all over the world. Many of them come back every week, month or even annually. Nirvana Adventures has become a second home for these pilots. Vibrant and seamless paragliding communities where you can fly make new friends and feel at home.”
As I got to know more that Nirvana Adventures are the oldest and most reputed paragliding school in the country. They are India’s First & Only ISO 9001-2008 Certified Paragliding School. They are the ones responsible for discovering the paragliding sites at Kamshet and transforming this remote region into a paragliding paradise drawing paragliding enthusiasts from all over the country and the world.
Their commitment to keep abreast with the latest in this new and developing sport in terms of best training practices, state of the art equipment and infrastructure and a strong emphasis on safety has ensured this place as leaders in the sport of paragliding.
Today they are a full-fledged adventure company and a reputed paragliding school. Numerous students & visiting pilots come to Nirvana Adventures from all over the world, many of them coming back every week, or month or annually.
Here at Nirvana Adventures they follow the British Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association’s (BHPA) progressive training system, a step by step approach that ensures a comprehensive, grounding in all the skills and knowledge ensuring high standards. They have developed a training program that is enjoyable and satisfying in a country holiday atmosphere set amongst the hills 2200 feet above sea level.
When you arrive at Native Place they allot a set of equipment to you (glider, harness, helmet and radio) for my exclusive use during the period of my course. You are also given a training record, manual and log book and will be exposed to other reading material and paragliding videos. Your instructors live under the same roof and are always at hand should you have any queries.
At the appointed time you will leave for the flying site along with the Nirvana crew. Your lesson in the field will begin on flat ground where you begin learning to fly the glider while safely on the ground. After a brief demonstration by your instructor, you’ll put on a harness and learn ground handling (how to control the glider on the ground), launching and landing skills with your instructor running alongside you. Day one is dedicated to ground training.
Your first flights will be undertaken in controlled conditions. The training hill you fly from, the wind speeds you take off in and the glider you fly are all selected keeping your level in mind. You will start with hops or low-level skimming flights where you fly a few feet above the ground. When you feel comfortable and can demonstrate good control of the glider, we’ll move to the training slope where you’ll practice solo flights from a higher altitude. First flights are short and at the landing area an assistant will be waiting to guide you into a smooth touchdown. Most students fly at the end of their second training day.
Under the guidance of your instructor calmly talking to you on radio during your flight you will learn to take off, make gentle turns, judge the wind direction and land gently and gracefully as an eagle. You will then be on your way to mastering the art of powerless flight.
Theory lectures and video sessions are held at the guesthouse. Each day dedicated transport takes you to the flying site and back. After an active session at the site you come back home to Native Place to enjoy great food, great company and great views.
Although I did not get a chance to do this extensive course. I had to gather the details for my favourite blog readers so that you get a glimpse of this amazing experience.
Had enough of Nirvana Adventures? When I started knowing about this place I too thought this but somehow this place kept surprising me. Out of the factual things I mentioned in the article that’s how it was but at the end of the day don’t we all miss home? Well I was missing my childhood days when we as a family went to the native place and enjoyed the simplicity of nature. This is when I came across Native place. Naah!! This is not my travel experience from a different place, this is just what Nirvana Adventures offers to the people who would love to stay.
The term ‘Native Place’ in India means one’s ancestral home or village. It is a place where an entire family converges during vacations and other occasions to spend time together. For generations, native place has played a pivotal role of a sacred waterhole which kept families together and traditions alive.
For travellers coming for the first time should know that Native Place is NOT a resort but a guesthouse, offering home-stay facility. I do recommend that everyone who wants to visit should go through Nirvana Adventures’ website thoroughly in order to check out what facilities are available/ not available at their guesthouse before making a reservation. Native Place is a charming guesthouse, situated few hours away from Mumbai, just off the old Mumbai-Pune highway. It is nestled in a utopian hamlet, Kamshet, blessed with scenic beauty created by the Vadivali lake and the surrounding mountains. The unique design of the guesthouse flows down the sloping hillside, offering a spectacular view of the lake and the mountains.
Welcome pamphlet: A Welcome Pamphlet available in my room contained useful information. It has a lot of information about Native place’s guesthouse and garden, site-seeing, emergency numbers etc. Do read it when you arrive so you can be familiar with things around.
Guest Rooms: Native Place has spacious rooms with attached baths – Lake Front Room 1, Lake Front Room 2, Sun Room, N1, N2, N3, N4 and N5. 4 bunk zones (Dorms) as well as tents – Tents and Dorms are provided with comfortable mattresses, sheets and pillows, and has a separate area of restrooms. Choose whichever is preferable.
Living / Dining Room: The guesthouse has an informal living/dining room next to the central courtyard, with a wide staircase spilling out into the porch. You can find numerous hangout spaces within the guesthouse and in the garden. Just relax and unwind.
Food: Delicious home-cooked buffet style meals are prepared offering you the local flavours. Many of the ingredients are grown in our own garden. Menus are prefixed; if you want to order snacks / beverages, there is a separate menu at the Kitchen.
IMP: All meals – Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner are ONLY served in their common dining area of the main guesthouse. Timings are fixed.
They do have an extra menu (available in the kitchen) for guests who may want to order snacks. But this service is sometimes suspended at short notice.
Food Supplies: The best part about Nirvana Adventures is that they support the local economy by purchasing most of their ingredients from the local market and directly from the farmers. They have a policy of using fresh local produce. Not only does this enhance the quality of the food we serve, but also reduces the ‘food miles’ travelled to reach the plate and, thus, the level of carbon emissions generated. The rice they serve is a variety grown especially by farmers in this region and the pickles are homemade. So all the ingredients come from their own garden.
No Room Service: Being a guesthouse, they have limited staff and do not offer room service.
Guests are not allowed into the kitchen and they do not allow refrigeration of your personal foods and beverages. Pets are not allowed. This is keeping in mind comforts of all guests who come to Native Place.
Eco-friendly: Native Place strives to be a sustainable and eco-friendly venture by conserving water and not littering I too contributed for the cause.
Native Place Garden: In the garden they have a preference for indigenous plants that attract birds and butterflies and other wild life to the garden. These plants survive on limited water and fertilizer, thereby ensuring that we use fewer resources. They also follow permaculture principles and the Nateuco method of organic farming, making their own compost (amrit mitthi) and reusing their own resources.
Garden Discovery Cards: They have compiled a series of Garden Discovery cards for you to explore the many delights and treasures in the garden. They urge us to use the same and promote it as well.
Checklist for a traveller like me
Climate: You can visit Kamshet any time of year – October to January for winters, February to May for summers, and June to September for blissful rains. Due to its geographical location, the days are warm and evenings cool. December and January can be particularly cold at night.
Clothing: Casual attire suits best. November/December/January: Light Woollens for the evenings and early mornings. Rest of the year: light attire all day and night.
Health and Misc: Native Place is located 13 km from the nearest stores. So, do keep this in mind while packing, and carry your preferred medicines, toiletries, etc. They do have a first aid kit in-house.
What to watch out for?
Staff :Native Place, today, has been able to create employment opportunities for the local youth (a much-needed contribution from every sector of our country). Almost all the staff members belong to Kamshet and villages around Kamshet, who are groomed, trained and appointed for specific roles and responsibilities in the guesthouse.
Architecture : Built keeping the weather, geography and earthy aesthetics in mind, the architecture of Native Place is designed to blend with the cascading hillside, overlooking the Vadivali Lake. It has airy rooms with high ceilings and many windows and ventilator openings to keep rooms additionally cool in summer. The central courtyard and many large openings funnel fresh air into the house at all times that made my stay refreshing. Laid with China Mosaic the roofs are not only delightful to look at, but also effective at keeping the ceiling cooler (this feature was the best as I love art and ventilation as well). In addition, the trees and shrubberies all around help in keeping the atmosphere pleasant throughout. Nature was at its best rather it was put in use at its best.
Electricity : To counter the frequent power cuts that peak in summers, Native Place has a back-up generator that powers fans and basic lights indoors. In addition, they have a solar-cum-windmill that powers outdoor lights. We use energy-efficient bulbs to reduce electricity usage and, thanks to solar panels, we have hot water running on the bathroom taps and they are working towards going completely off the grid. How eco-friendly and cool is that.
Water : At Native Place strong emphasis is on water conservation, which is why they use micro filtration and reverse osmosis to produce potable water, drawn from the nearby lake. The residual waste water is treated on site, using Reed Bed technology and is used to irrigate a part of the garden. Furthermore, in the garden, they have consciously chosen species of plants that survive on less water, and have adopted various methods to reduce water consumption.
Taste the Authentic : Traditional mango pickles, crunchy salads of fresh vegetables picked from the Native Place garden, a wide spread of multi-cultural vegetarian and non-vegetarian delicacies … food at the Native Place guest house is all about tasting the authentic. After the whole adventurous ride I savoured these delicacies to the fullest. The buffet was served at the common dining area at fixed timings during breakfast, lunch and dinner. Sometimes you ought to be punctual to enjoy those special meals.
Meals: Speaking of meals they had a typical menu. No you won’t get a special cook or chef here. It’s your native remember? Native Place has an exclusive Buffet service as I mentioned earlier with the Breakfast having options such as Upma (Semolina Porridge), Poha (Spicy Puffed Rice), Anda Burji (Scrambled Eggs), Bread, Butter, Jam and Tea. Lunch had some of my favourite with Dal (Lentil Soup), Rice, Roti, 2 Vegetable Dishes, 1 Salad and Pickles. (1 Chicken dish for non-vegetarians). Dinner had Palak Paneer, Aloo Mutter, Jeera Rice, Egg Curry, salad, Pickles (On weekends, dinner begins with vegetable soup). Weekend Special has Freshly Barbequed Chicken, Jacket Potatoes and Butter Naan. With No Room Service, Native Place gives you the full responsibility to get out of the room as we all did back at our native place.
Multi activity adventures : Feel the excitement of climbing hills and scaling new heights. Go mountaineering! Flying Fox, Rock Climbing, Abseiling / Rappelling, Hiking, Jummaring, Valley Crossing, Ropes Course, Outdoor Surviving Techniques and Team Games are the options for Adventure Lovers.
So what are you waiting for ?
Nestled in a remote valley in the Sahayadri Mountain Range, it is located 2 and half hours from Mumbai, 40 minutes from the hill station of Lonavala, and is accessible via the Mumbai-Pune expressway and rail. Trains and buses ply to Kamshet every day from Mumbai (via Lonavala) and Pune. Get your journey planned and get set to this place. I highly recommend this place for those travelling alone as well as with their family as it is an excellent getaway for all the Adventure lovers and if you are not the adventure type then go on get yourself comfortable in the warmth of Mother Nature. Be it the serene beauty from the top being flying in the limitless sky or being in the lush green trees and bushes and greens all you have to do it visit that place to enjoy both or any.
What makes this place attractive is its location (being so close from the hustle of Mumbai), it is yet so calm and has so many things to offer. So go on and grab this opportunity to find peace from your daily ordinary life.

Fantastic Friday at the Classic Malts Selection Lounge at Lakme Fashion Week 2018
#LFW2018 is a classic example of how fashion has reached to a top level. Lakme fashion week tells you that fashion is what you wear, eat and what you drink. This is how we landed at the Classic Malts Selection Lounge AT LFW, where whisky turned the table into good chat and conversation between friends. Though I don’t drink, but learning about the heritage and history of single malts was a great experience.
Let me tell you the basics about whisky.
Whisky is a type of distilled alcoholic beverage made from fermented grain mash. Whisky is typically aged in wooden casks made of charred white oak. It is a strictly regulated spirit worldwide with many classes and types. The typical unifying characteristics of all types of Whisky are the fermentation of grains, distillation and aging in wooden barrels.
Diageo hosted the VIP Classic Malts Selection Lounge at the event, and Diageo Reserve Brand Ambassador, Jamie Walker, was present, creating hand-crafted cocktails and conducting malt tasting sessions.
The Classic Malts Selection represents Scotland’s finest single malt whiskies from its four distilling regions, which are Islands, Highlands, Speyside and Lowlands. The most pre-eminent malts include Singleton, Talisker, Cardhu, Caol Ila, Clynelish and Cragganmore.
Singleton of Glen Ord 12YO Single Malt:
The Singleton is a Glen Ord Single Malt Whisky and has a warm fruity flavor and is little silky sweet. Aged in ex American Whiskey and Spanish Sherry Cakes, it has won numerous Gold medals in the most prestigious spirits competitions in the world. It is a form of distillery founded in 19th century and uses traditional methods of production with in-house malting. It involves a very long fermentation with slow distillation and produces very unique single malt.
Talisker 10YO It is built by the side of Loch Harport of Skye by Hugh and Kenneth MacGaskill in 1830. It appears in a brilliant gold color and It has a rich dried-fruit sweetness with clouds of smoke and strong barley-malt flavors. It has long, huge, warming and peppery in the finish with an appetizing sweetness. Talisker 10-year-old Isle of Skye Single Malt Scotch Whisky is best enjoyed from rocking glass on the rocks.
Cardhu 12YO: It comes in golden honey color. It has well balanced flavor of sweet and appears fresh and has a pronounced drying effect. It is short in height and gives attractive and drying after taste. Cardhu12 year old is a generous multilayered malt whisky. It is rich and has fruity, honey and nut flavors.
It was a wonderful experience being a part of this tasting and experiencing the CMS Lounge, a great place for all guests to unwind between shows.
PS: In no way I promote that drinking alcohol is good . This article is clearly for the event which I attended with my friends at Lakme Fashion Week 2018
