Paper Mache with Kids

Accept it or not, something is exciting about messing newspapers dipped into the thinnest liquid of fevicol, isn’t it? So, paper mache is one of the favorite DIY activities for kids and their parents. Because you need no rules, no dimensions, just creativity and yeah, a lot of mess!

Paper machesI have participated in AtoZ Blogging Challenge with #BlogchatterA2Z and I have chosen the topic Fun Activities to do with Your Kids During Quarantine the period. The alphabet for today is P and P for Paper Mache with Kids.

Why Paper Mache With Kids?

Paper Mache is one of the most loved activities by everyone because it is very cheap and needs just a bunch of materials. It helps to challenge creativity out of people and later on, they can decorate their house or their room with their own handmade paper mache objects.

If you are looking for something to keep your kids busy for at least 2-3 hours or even more, then Paper Mache is the activity that you should try out.

Material Required for the Paper Mache

Paper Mache doesn’t require a lot of materials. You can take a newspaper, fevicol, paint colours, napkins, balloons (optional), cardboard and a lot of patience to let your paper mache dry.

How to make “Paper Mache With Kids”

It depends upon which object that you want to make with your kids and you need to use the balloon or cardboard to give it a basic structure so that you can do paper mache over it. Initially, we tried the super basic object and i.e., the alphabet A which is the initial of my daughter Angel.

We cut-out the alphabet A from the cardboard and made the balls of paper and dipped into the solution ¾ of glue and ¼ of water. And then stick on the surface of the cutout cardboard and layered it the napkins and then the coat of the glue and water solution for 4-5 times and leave until it dries.

And then paint it in different colors to make it more attractive and appealing. If you want, then I can create a video of Paper mache explaining what all things we made with Paper mache. Let me know in the comment section.

Key Learnings

Your kids will love this activity as it doesn’t require any particular steps to follow. And, still, it turns out to be completely beautiful.

My Overall Experience

It was a little messier than expected so keep this in mind that you need to get ready for an ultimate clean up for the place. So, try out this activity with your kids too and don’t forget to share the experience in the comment section below. If possible, you can also share the pictures of your paper mache art that you have made with your kids and tag me, @sneha_261013 on Instagram.
