Leh Ladakh Diaries Day – 4

Continuing from the Day 3 Leh Ladakh journey to Day 4 today. Nubra valley with its breathtaking views, eye-catching greenery, and friendly inhabitants is one of the beautiful and peaceful places to visit. The best time to visit this place is from July to September. At that time the pleasant autumn season lets you enjoy this beautiful and heavenly place. No matter which month you visit this place, the climate there is always pleasant and loving. Mostly the temperature is low and winter wear is must to carry, especially during night time, it’s very chilling. While traveling to Nubra valley from Leh, there comes a place called Khardung La Pass. From Khardung La Pass, it is a single lane road to reach Nubra valley. During the complete journey from Khardung La to Nubra Valley, you will find the areas having barren hills and lands without any greenery but at some places ice melting water is collected, which then is passed to the nearby villages through canals. So, after reaching Nubra Valley they took rest and the next day went for the sight-seeing of Nubra.

Leh LadakhIt was a beautiful place where they stayed at Nubra Valley. They were many tents of the same sizes and shapes were built. Each couple was given a separate tent house room for stay. It was a completely different experience to stay in the tent rooms. The rooms inside the tents were beautifully architect and were having all the basic necessity things. There was heater attached in every tent room on the sleeping bed. Outside the tents rooms was a small but moving water canal was present. The flowing water sound of that canal during night time was very enchanting. Also, there were many fresh Apricots trees outside the tents house, from which you can pluck and eats those fruits as many as you want. The place for having food was nearby and convenient.

After having breakfast they left for ATV Bike ride. ATV stands for All Terrain Vehicle. It is basically a track available to drive ATV bikes near Khalsar village. There were some people and some 10-15 ATV bikes in different colours. If you wish to go on a drive on the ATV bikes you have to pay the amount asked from them and enjoy. For per person, the charges were around 900 and on one bike a couple can travel together, where both can drive one by one under the guidance of the bike driver. He will sit beside you and will guide. He also takes videos and photos of your while driving and enjoying the ATV bike ride. The experience of driving an ATV bike was new for my sister and for many others present with her.  The overall experience of driving that bike was very lovely and adventurous. It was such a pleasant experience that many enjoyed that bike ride more than once.

Leh LadakhThen they went to see Sand dunes. It is actually a place located at Diskit Village at Nubra, basically at the place called Hunder. This area is also known as cold desert were you can see sand dunes spread to some specific location. There were some special kind of camels with a double hunch and also bit small as compared to the camels you must have seen at Rajasthan or at some other place. Tourists enjoy a camel ride there and also it is a beautiful place for photo clicks. The charges for camel ride were around Rs.200 for per person for some 15 minutes and more than 200 for more time. After enjoying at these places they returned back to their tents rooms. Where some couples enjoyed taking rest in the rooms, some enjoyed clicking photos while some enjoyed playing outdoor games.

In my next post, I will discuss about the next day journey of Nubra and about traveling back to Leh.

Surrounded by beauty while traveling in Leh Ladakh – Day 3!

Leh Ladakh Diaries Day – 3

After traveling in Leh Ladakh’s some beautiful places and taking rest in the evening, the next day after having breakfast they left from the Hotel to visit the remaining places of Leh. From the Hotel, they directly went to Shanti Stupa. It was a beautiful place with mind-blowing architecture. The Shanti Stupa was having a two level of construction. The first level was having the statue of Gautam Buddha embellished in Gold color and Dharmachakra and the second level depicts the life, enlightenment and the death of Gautam Buddha. They moved the wheels of the Dharmachakra and made wishes.

They also took the round of entire stupa praying and enjoying the glittering beauty of traveling in Leh Ladakh, as what majority of devotees who visit this place do. The walls of the second level were painted with colorful pictures which depict the complete life of Gautam Buddha. The construction of this beautiful monument was the joint effort of the Japanese and Buddhist monks. The architectural designing of Shanti Stupa is entirely different from the typical Ladakhi style. It is one of the popular spots of Leh-Ladakh and every tourist visiting Leh make sure they don’t miss this place.

After visiting the unique monument Shanti Stupa, they all went to see the Hall of Fame Museum. It is a museum located on the Leh-Kargil road and is constructed by the Indian soldiers in the memory of all the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives in different wars for the safety and security of our country. There were several things to see in that museum. The museum was built in two storey and each floor was having few sections. On the upper floor, there was a section named as OP Vijay Gallery, there were several weapons displayed which were used in Kargil war.

In another section on the same floor, there were various apparels and amenities used by Indian Army of the Siachen region. There were also many pictures showing the struggle of Army officers in glaciers and heavy snow-clad regions. Then in one of the section on the ground floor of the same museum were the pictures of the soldiers who fought in Kargil war and also the pictures of all the soldiers, along with their information, who sacrifice their lives for the well- being and safety of the country.  Watching all those pictures made them realize, how precious the sacrifice of our Indian Soldiers is it is only because of them each and every Indian is living a safe and fearful life.

traveling in Leh LadakhOn the back side of the Museum, there was a parade ground were daily during sunrise and sunset a parade is carried out by few Indian Soldiers in the memory of the all the Shahid Soldiers. Just a few steps far there was a graveyard, with the graves of the Shahid Soldiers. On the ground floor, there was a section which showed the history, culture and other important facts of Ladakh. It also consists of a souvenir shop where tourists can buy several items including caps, t-shirts, some show pieces related to Ladakh culture, many designs and sizes of dream-catcher, dry-fruits, and pashmina shawls, etc.  The money they collect by selling the above products is then used for the well-being of Indian Soldiers. At last, they showed a video which was actually a documentary on ‘Operation Vijay’of about 35-45 minutes. After watching that video, the tears were rolling from the eyes of an almost every person watching that documentary, since the video was very heart touching and emotional too.

Inside the Thiksey Monastrey there were several monks which are also called as Lama’s, they stay and workship inside the Monastrey. Since there were already a group of people visiting the School. It is said the money they collect by selling those several things, they used it for the education purpose of the several poor students of the same school. There were several pictures also showing the history and several achievements of the School. After some 35-40 minutes, the guide took all of them to visit the campus. A strict instruction was given to all of them, not to make noise and take photographs at the restricted area, since the School was going on. The first thing they saw was a café, where they offer coffee and few snacks which were chargeable.
