It is one of the largest and most famous Monastery in Ladakh and is located at an altitude of almost 3,600m in the Thiksey village. It is also one of the architecturally grand Buddhist Monastrey in Ladakh. To reach at the top of this Monastrey, one has to climb about 200 stairs. My sister and some of her friends faced altitude sickness problem since as you climb the stairs, you are a reaching a much higher altitude level. Inside the Thiksey Monastrey there were several monks which are also called as Lama’s, they stay and workship inside the Monastrey. After visiting Thiksey Monastrey, they all went to Rancho School. This is a school which became famous after the release of Aamir khan’s movie 3 Idiots. The original name of this school is Druk Padma Karpo School also known as Druk White Lotus School. On arrival at the entrance of the school, they all were taken inside the campus by a guide. Since there were already a group of people visiting the School. There were several pictures also showing the history and several achievements of the School. After some 35-40 minutes, the guide took all of them to visit the campus. A strict instruction was given to all of them, not to make noise and take photographs at the restricted area, since the School was going on. The first thing they saw was a café, where they offer coffee and few snacks which were chargeable.
