Drawing With Kids

Due to the uncontrolled situation because of COVID, Social Distancing is the new normal. Forget about the movie theatres, no going out, no playdates and no school as well. So, most parents are still finding the perfect way to keep their kids busy on the regular schedule. Because, let’s be real they won’t be studying throughout the day, so there has to be something which keeps them busy on weekdays as well as weekends.

That’s why I took the AtoZ Blogging Challenge with #BlogchatterA2Z where I will be sharing the list of fun activities to do with your kids during the quarantine period. And, the word for today’s blog starts with the letter D. I think what’s better than D for Drawing with kids, isn’t it?

I believe that every child is an artist in itself. But, it takes an equal amount of time, patience and lots of effort to bring it out. So, why not start it with the easiest and common activity and i.e., drawing. Every kid loves to roughly doodle on walls and books randomly. It’s the best time to give them a proper direction for this activity.

Why Drawing With Kids?

It is always a fun thing to learn how to draw cute and maybe realistic cartoons with a pen and paper. This activity will help them to get drawing skill and they might be able to make their artwork after lots of practice. From kindergarten to second grade or even older, this activity can be done by any age group and it will still be an amazing thing to do with your family.

Material Required for the Drawing With Kids

The materials required for drawing are pretty easy to find. A drawing book, a bunch of color sketch pens, a pencil, a sharpener, and an eraser. You can even print out the dotted version of the object from online and it will be easy to trace for the little kids.

How to do “Drawing With Kids”

There are hundreds of tutorials on YouTube that show different and easy tricks to draw a difficult animation as well (let me know if you need a detailed description of the best YouTube channel for drawing with kids). But, with the younger age group kids, you can start with as basic as a cat, Xmas tree, 3-D alphabet and more.

Key Learnings

Here are some of the key learning that I have found in my daughter:

  • Drawing is an initial stage of art development in kids and it helps them to learn the basic design like circles, alphabets, and other shapes properly.
  • It reflects the creative side of the brain.

My Overall Experience

My experience with this activity was super amazing. We drew a lot of cartoon characters and she has improved her drawing with every illustration. To give recognition and a sense of achievement, I have pasted the picture on our fridge with the help of fridge magnets. This helped her to make more creatives.

So, try out this activity with your kids too and don’t forget to share the experience in the comment section below. If possible, you can also share the pictures of your kid’s drawing and tag me, @sneha_261013 on Instagram.

BlogchatterAnd stay tuned for the next activity from the alphabet, ‘E’! Can you guess it?
