Talking About The Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) and How it is Increasing

Non-communicable diseases are diseases that cannot be transmitted from one individual to another individual such as heart diseases, cancer, kidney issues, liver problems, and other chronic diseases.

In India, NCDs are becoming common and in order to break this norm, it is important to take immediate action so that you can stay healthy in your future.

Diabetes, hypertension, and heart diseases are becoming more common in 45-60 years old people as compared to people who are above 60 years, as stated by the Managing Director of Apollo Hospital, Dr. Anupam Sibal.

What Can We do Prevent it?

As per the information given in the webinar by Apollo Healthcare groups, here are some of the preventive measures to avoid NCDs.

First, a bit of history and science

At the turn of the twentieth century, Maria Montessori came out with her theory on early development. Interestingly, many of her contemporaries discounted her brilliant insights as quackery. Although she was a qualified paediatrician, the scientific evidence of the effectiveness of her methods would still take a few years to come by. Theorising without scientific evidence was akin to blasphemy to the proud scientific community of the west in those days.

But the decades that followed only proved her right with enough scientific evidence, it a general consensus emerged in the fields of healthcare and education that early development, especially in 0-3 years age band is a great opportunity for parents, communities and society, at large.

Today, Public Health departments and not-for-profits in the developed world spend millions of dollars every year in order to educate parents of the newly-borns’ about the benefits of early intelligence development.

Some of the best-known institutions in the world are promoting the idea of 0-3 development because they see this as a great opportunity to develop better and brighter citizens and as a solution to prevent many future challenges that today’s children will have.

One such institution is the Harvard Centre on the Developing Child. In the video given below, they explain how the process of brain development takes place in humans.

https://developingchild.harvard.edu/science/key-concepts/brain-architecture/

The experts at this centre suggest that constant serve and return interactions with the baby actually augment the brain development process and can achieve great results.

https://developingchild.harvard.edu/resources/5-steps-for-brain-building-serve-and-return/

They also talk about strategies that parents and caregivers can adopt to actually help the process.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_5u8-QSh6A&feature=youtu.be

The logic behind this thinking is summarised in their chart below

baby's intelligence

The essence of the recommendations from the Harvard Centre on the Developing Child is

  1. Early brain development is critical
  2. Parents can support the process by engaging in frequent interactive communication with their babies
  3. The quality and quantity of the above interactions can have a significant impact on the cognitive abilities of the baby
  4. It makes sense for the parents to do bit of planning to have structured interactions that support this development
  5. Supporting such development is not only beneficial to individual babies or parents but the multiplier positive effect on the society can be significant as well.

What is in it for the parents and the caregivers?

Because the process of brain development can be augmented in early childhood, it is an opportunity for the parents and caregivers. This is one area wherein the “Nature Vs Nurture” debate, “Nurture” actually wins. And let us be clear that this brain development is not just about IQ.  It is about EQ as well. Active engagement with babies makes them feel secure and they grow to be positive, caring and confident adults.

The question is what can you do to take advantage of this opportunity?

On this front, the advice from the experts is simple and can be summarised in the following bullet points.

  1. Be aware– Know that you can actively contribute to the brain development process of your child.
  2. Make active efforts– Try to learn about the methods and tools that you can deploy.
  3. Commit to action– Have some kind of plan or routine to work with your baby, starting right at birth.
  4. Empower yourselves– To do a good job, you need to have access to content, materials etc. Be in look out for and acquire right tools. They will make your life easier.

With little awareness and effort on your part, you can actually significantly improve your baby’s future.

Considering the competitive pressures that we will have on our resources in the days to come, we do need sharper brains walking around on our planet. Tomorrow’s adults need to be more capable of solving complex problems and they will come out of today’s children.

Therefore, it is an opportunity as well as a responsibility for all of us to work on the intelligence of our babies.

Are you tired of asking your kids, not to eat unhealthy or junk food items? Have you gave up on giving healthy options to replace their snack time but they turn their nose up?

Balzano Digital Air Fryer

Well, if your answer is YES, then I have the best trick that will not only make you feel relaxed but also soothe your kid’s taste buds too. And I am sure they will never say ‘NO’ to this healthy option.

The answer to all the problems is Balzano Digital Air Fryer with Rapid Hot Circulation Technology – and trust me, it’s the best digital air fryer available in the market.

So, due to the pandemic, kids have been munching all day long without any physical activity. I know, it’s a tough time and we can’t tell them to go outside and play but we can obviously find out some of the healthy options.

And don’t dare to think about making an Avocado Salad or Kale Smoothie, I am pretty sure most of the things prefer to eat french over a healthy bowl of salad.

That’s how the best digital air fryer by Balzano comes to rescue. Recently, I have prepared Veg Tikki for my kids and they just loved it.

Recipe for the Veg Tikki in the Balzano Digital Air Fryer

Veg Tikki

  • Step 1: Firstly take all the fresh vegetables like cabbage, beans, carrots, beetroot and potato. Finely chop all the vegetables and mix them together. You can add salt, pepper and chaat masala as per your preference.
  • Step 2: Make dough balls of the mixed vegetables and coat them with a thick layer of breadcrumbs.
  • Step 3: Then place the Tikki inside the fryer basket of Balzano Digital Air Fryer and within 8-10 minutes, you can enjoy oil free Veg Tikki at your home.
My Experience

I had the best experience with Balzano Digital Air Fryer. The fact that this air fryer can reduce 95% of the oil usage from the food has left me in shock. And, trust me, you don’t have to compromise on the taste as well as the crunchiness of any food that you cook in this air fryer.

Why You Should Give it a Try?
  • Balzano Digital Air Fryer has an inbuilt temperature controller and as a result, it provides more heat and makes the food crunchier and crispier than ever.
  • It reduces oil usage by 95% without any change in their taste and ability to store 5.5L.
  • Cooking time in this air fryer is much faster than the conventional oven.
  • The digital touch screen menu over the air fryer gives it a feeling of a luxurious appliance for your kitchen and makes the whole process easier and effortless.
  • The removable air fryer basket is non-stick and dishwasher safe which makes the whole cleaning process a total hassle-free.

It is a whole new and best experience for me. It’s so great to see how technology is evolving.

Exercise with Kids

Nobody wants their child to be like a couch potato, isn’t it? But during this quarantine time, there has been low or even no amount of physical activity that has been done by you or your kids. If that’s the situation, then I am sure you will love this article.

excercise with kidsIn the list of these series, I had an idea to include something related to physical activity as well. Not only it is amazing but also helps you get involved in physical fitness as well. In this AtoZ Blogging Challenge with #BlogchatterA2Z I will be sharing the list of fun activities to do with your kids during the quarantine period. And, the word for today’s blog starts with the letter E. And, it is E for Exercise with kids.

Kids have an enormous amount of energy as they are growing up so it is always a good idea to encourage them to go out and play with their friends rather than sticking to their phone screen. I have always encouraged my daughter to play outside and make new friends and play new games with them. But due to the quarantine period, you can still exercise in your house while making it a fun-time activity.

Why Exercise With Kids?

Just like breathing and eating, I believe exercise should be a part of the daily routine. As a parent, we should always motivate them to be a part of any activity which involves some physical strength. Exercising on a mundane basis helps them to make them stronger and they will be able to give extra attention to their body. If your child is a teenager, then you should definitely do this activity as their hormones are evolving and exercise will assist to strengthen their body and mind.

Material Required for the Exercise With Kids

You don’t need a lot of material with this activity. You just need an exercising mat, a music system (if required) and access to YouTube video. Just type ‘Easy exercises with Kids’ and you can choose any video and imitate their steps.

How to do “Exercise With Kids”

Exercising with Kids doesn’t require a lot of effort but there might be a possibility that you need to push them a bit to exercise. Some kids don’t want to exercise, but if you are going to put their favorite song on speaker and do it with other family members, then I am sure they will not be able to resist it.

Key Learnings

Here are some of the key learning that I have discovered while exercising with my daughter:

  • Exercising not only develops their physical strength but also makes a positive impact on mental health as well.
  • It gives the right direction to spend their energy during this lockdown period.

My Overall Experience

Honestly, I had a great experience with this activity. I have played my daughter’s favourite playlist and other family members have participated in this activity too.

So, try out this activity with your kids too and don’t forget to share the experience in the comment section below. If possible, you can also share the pictures while working out or exercising with your kids and tag me, @sneha_261013 on Instagram.

And stay tuned for the next activity from the alphabet, ‘F’! Can you guess it?

Generally, women are scared of the twists and turn in yoga. But, did you know that yoga is safe for you?

Benefits of Yoga in Pregnancy

Get relief from your common pregnancy complaints – The challenges of pregnancy are, of course, many. Are nausea, headaches and those odd sensations in the body not enough that pregnant women also complain of restless legs, heartburn, and insomnia?

By circulating blood throughout the body, yoga prepares your body for sleep, helps to alleviate the discomforts of acid reflux, restless legs, and back pain. You can fall asleep faster and also sleep better, which will further keep you fresh throughout the day.

  • Fight stress and anxiety – Your husband is scared of you now because you could any time be yelling at him for something trivial. It’s time you become mushy-mushy again!

The slow breathing and gentle movements of yoga can help you feel relaxed and improve your stress level. The meditation and relaxation practices help to release the tension out, that you have stored unconsciously in your body, and cope with stress in a better way. Further, yoga brings blood pressure and heart rate at healthy levels, thus improving your overall health and well-being.

  • Have a healthier pregnancy Every pregnant mother wants to prepare beforehand for labor and ensure that her fetus is healthy. For this, you need to strengthen your body during pregnancy, your lower body in particular.

Studies have shown that practising yoga during pregnancy reduces the chances of preterm labor as well as intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR), a condition in which the baby doesn’t grow at a normal rate inside the womb. Yoga improves the birthweight of the baby and also facilitates easy and more comfortable labor by increasing the strength, flexibility, and endurance of the muscles much needed for childbirth. Moreover, yoga aids recovery after delivery.

  • Stay physically active – It is a well-known fact that staying active during pregnancy is very important for several reasons; a crucial one is that you become less prone to the risks of complications in pregnancy.

Yoga, which is gentle and tailored according to the needs of an expectant mom, is an ideal activity to keep you physically active and fit. A walk in the morning and evening is a good habit, but incorporating a short yoga routine, with your medical doctor’s advice, can be very effective.

Safety tips before you practice yoga

  • Get a medical opinion from your doctor or physical therapist to understand what is safe for your body.
  • Practise yoga under a certified instructor. Prioritize prenatal yoga over your regular classes.
  • Exercise in moderation, don’t do anything painful. Never strain yourself. If needed, modify your poses accordingly.
  • Ensure utmost care while bending, twisting or turning your body; more specifically while transitioning in and out of poses.
  • Stay hydrated. Wear proper yoga clothes, those that have a loose fit. Practice in an open area or a well-ventilated room.

What do you need to avoid during your pregnancy?

  • Lower spinal or deep twists, and twisting along the midline (you can cramp your baby’s space)
  • Asanas or exercises on your stomach, i.e. with your face down
  • Overstretching, major backbends, and inversions
  • Lying on your back for more than 3 minutes (especially after your first trimester)
  • Any exercise that may cause even a mild abdominal injury

pregnancy yogaPregnancy is mama-baby time, you need to be gentle on yourself now. Take time out from your busy work and home life for a short and regular pregnancy yoga routine. And when you go for your classes, you will meet other expectant mommies too; sharing your pregnancy journey – the experiences and challenges – with them will be so much fun.

If we tell you that yoga is safe for you throughout your pregnancy, then will you not HIT THE YOGA MAT today?

Importance of Double Marker Test

In the previous blog, where I had mentioned missing the double marker test. I had let you all know briefly that it is important to get both the tests – double marker and the quadruple marker done. Since missing either of them would be a failure. I have been there and since missing one of these tests had not just led to listening to the scolding from my doctor but missing the result too. The quadruple marker test and the double marker test allows you to let you know whether the child is suffering from any genetic illness or not.

Importance of Double Marker Test

Well, this made me let to research more about the tests and why is it important? Therefore, I would like to share with you my experience of the same. Below are the basic questions that I had in my mind when I heard about these tests. So, here we go!

What is a Quadruple Marker Test?

This is a blood test that will provide you with information regarding the health of your child in a more in-depth result. This is a test that predicts any internal health issues or genetic disease occurring in the child growing within you. Now, to make it further clear, the quadruple test will let you know if there is a problem or not, it won’t diagnose the issue. For instance, when the cholesterol screening is done, it lets you know that you would be prone to a heart issue, however, it does not state that you have heart disease.

Therefore, the quadruple marker test helps in determining if a woman undergoing pregnancy is at a lower or higher risk of carrying the baby taking birth with a defect.

What is a Double Marker Test?

Moving on to the double marker test, it is mainly to ensure whether the fetus of the woman has any chromosomal malformation. This test will help the doctor to convey whether there are any neurological conditions pertaining to the fetus like the down’s syndrome or Edward’s Syndrome.

When I had got to know about the tests from the doctor, I treated them as just any other tests. It was later that I got to know that these tests are very important, and they have a specific time period if you surpass that you won’t be able to get the tests done. This was the case that happened to me. I was not able to get it done because of the closure of the pathology and thereafter missing my date.

The chromosomal abnormalities in the fetus can get worse by developing deformities and this could lead to various health issues. This will worsen the condition after the child has taken birth. However, these deformities are the rarest of rare conditions.

Who is recommended to undergo the double marker and quadruple marker test?

The doctors recommend every lady who is expecting a child however, there is an option for you to skip it. Having said that if you fall in any of the following factors you are strongly recommended to consider taking the test:

  • Your age is 35 years plus when the baby is due
  • Any member of your family, genetically attached, has a history of genetic or birth defects
  • Your previous child was born with a birth defect
  • You have type 1 diabetes prior to your pregnancy

Please make sure you consider your doctor if you have any of the above-mentioned issues. I recommend you take the test as a person who has experienced it first-hand.

When Should You Get a Quad Marker Test?

After knowing about who must get the quadruple marker test you need to know that when is the time period to get it done.

The doctors prescribe that you should get the test done between the 15th and the 22nd week of the pregnancy. The test can be performed in the time period. However, it is mostly said to be performed between the 16th and 18th weeks.

What happens in a quadruple?

Now, a lot of my readers would have this one question. Does it let you know completely and accurately about the issues or is it just a chance? Well, I have similar queries and therefore, would like to share with you my readings. The problems are developed in the fetus’s brain and the spinal cord. There are called open neural tube defects. Also, the quadruple marker test can just predict approximately 80% of the defects.

The genetic disorders like the down syndrome or a chromosomal abnormality are namely some which can be identified by the quadruple marker test by 75% in the cases of the women who are under the age of 35 years, while 80% to those who are above the age of 35 years.

How are the Quadruple and the Double Marker test importance?

One will always question the importance of a test before taking one. However, the following are some aspects which make the quadruple and double marker test essential:

  • It helps in the assessment of certainty and uncertainty of any mental disorder to the unborn baby.
  • The primary importance of the tests lies in detecting the down’s syndrome.
  • The double marker test helps in detecting the Trisomy 18, which might result in mental retardation and other severe birth defects.
  • It helps in the detection of Trisomy 21 T, as it is one of the caused fir mental disorders, heart disorders, and other critical health conditions which affects vital organs.

What do you need to prepare for the test?

There is no specific preparation for the blood test that you need to perform. But in case if you are on any specific medication during your pregnancy, you will need to inform your doctor and consult him about it. In rarest cases, you might be told by the doctor to stop the medication until the test has been taken.

How much does the test cost?

It isn’t one of those costly tests however, the nominal charges for this test range somewhere between 2500 to 3000 INR.

So, these were some of the major and essential information about the quadruple and double marker tests. Please make sure you consult your doctor and also follow the time to take the test.

8 DENTAL MYTHS THAT YOU SHOULD STOP BELIEVING

When it comes to taking care of your oral health, there are many misconceptions that need to be understood.

  • SUGAR IS THE MAIN CULPRIT OF CAVITIES

The most common dental myths is  cavities by sugar candies. Acid is produced by bacteria after digesting carbohydrate that causes cavities in your mouth. Thus, it is not just sugar! Again, it is not the quantity of carbohydrates you consume that causes tooth decay, but the number of times your teeth are exposed. E.g. If you eat a lot of carbs for lunch, that is a big exposure. However, if you spend the day sipping some sugary drink, then that is a continue exposure which can cause more damage to your teeth!

  • IF NOTHING IS BOTHERING YOU, YOU DON’T NEED A DENTAL CHECK-UP

This is a misconception! With a lot of dental problems, you don’t necessarily feel pain right away. Once symptoms appear, it has often increased. If you wait till a cavity hurts for a checkup, you may require root canal or extraction, which could have been otherwise prevented with a regular dental checkup.

  • SCALING IS NOT GOOD FOR TEETH

Scaling or Cleaning weakens the teeth and makes them loose! That’s misinformation and most old age dental myth. However, scaling aims to remove plaque and calculus and keeps teeth and gums healthy! Calculus deposits form over time and may form semi calcified layer between gums and teeth. It may also result in pockets and gum recession. Scaling actually removes these deposits, it may give you the sensation of loose teeth, but it just removes bad calculus support which would otherwise leave you with no teeth!

  • IT’S ONLY A BABY TOOTH

Baby teeth are important! They provide necessary space for permanent teeth to erupt. Cavity in a baby tooth if not treated can cause premature tooth loss, resulting in gap which can close over time. This will give less space for permanent teeth to erupt and result in crowding. To avoid this, a dentist can provide artificial space maintainer. Also, child’s teeth should be maintained as healthy as possible. Chances are that if they don’t floss or brush their baby teeth, they won’t brush or floss their permanent teeth either. Good oral habits should be inculcated earlier.

  • SOFT AND SPORTS DRINKS ARE BETTER FOR YOU

Not only sugar, but also the acid in soft and sports drink causes damage to your teeth. They can cause tooth erosion by wearing the outermost protective layer of tooth i.e. enamel. Over time, they can result in heightened sensitivity and cavities. For healthy and refreshing alternative to soft drink, nothing beats water. Also, despite what you may think, brushing immediately after having soda is not a good idea. By doing so, you are brushing away the demineralized enamel caused by plaque bacteria metabolizing the sugar. Always wait for 20 – 30 minutes for the pH of your oral cavity to return to normal, so that bicarbonate in saliva will buffer the acid and fluoride will promote remineralization.

  • ORAL HEALTH IS NOT CONNECTED TO REST OF BODY

Your overall health is connected to rest of your systemic overall health. An oral cavity with periodontal disease and severe decay is more likely to cause bacteria to enter blood stream and contribute to other health issues. Research shows association between periodontal disease and diabetes, leukemia, etc.  With this most common dental myths, people tend to ignore and don’t relate with current disease they must be suffering.

  • FLOSSING CAN CREATE SPACES BETWEEN YOUR TEETH

Flossing does not create spaces between your teeth! But it helps prevent decay between teeth. Flossing helps to remove food debris nestled around teeth and gums, which helps to maintain healthy teeth and gums.

  • IT DOESN’T MATTER WHAT TIME OF DAY I BRUSH

At night while we are asleep, our salivary glands produce less saliva. During the day, our salivary flow is higher, and it otherwise provides cleansing effect that we don’t get at night. Therefore, one should brush at night before bed. Otherwise, food particles stay on our teeth all night and contribute to tooth decay.  Also, the choice of our diet plays an integral role in oral health. It is recommended to brush right after consuming sugary food or drink to prevent cavities.

The blue-green algae produced by the non-toxic bacteria is known as Spirulina. It is considered as the best source of protein (around 55-70%) and vitamin B12. The Indian company, Prolgae sells the Spirulina in the form of nibs or crunches. Rather than protein and vitamin B12, this sun-dried Spirulina is filled with minerals, fibres, amino acids to provide you the highest advantages. Improves Immunity: It helps to immune the body from viral attacks and serves as a hindrance in the multiplication of viruses. It can also ease the allergic symptoms.
Great for Detoxification: Due to the presence of phytonutrients and other vitamins & minerals, it aids to eliminate toxins from the body and promotes healthy skin.

Helps to magnify Metabolism: Vitamin B12 in Spirulina supports to boost the metabolism of the body which means you tend to burn more calories than you used to.

How to Intake Spirulina

The apt dosage to consume Spirulina is in between 5 grams to 7 grams. You can sprinkle Spirulina over your meals or mix in your morning drinks.

Is Spirulina is okay to consume for me?

As per the Dietary Supplements Information Expert Committee of the US, Spirulina has no traces of health risk if consumed in moderate amount.

So, in short, it is healthy to consume Spirulina but you need to check with a physician if you are not feeling well after the dosage of the product.

My Experience with Spirulina By Prolgae

It’s been a month since I started adding Spirulina in my regular diet. To be honest, I haven’t remarked about any drastic improvements in my body. Despite not altering any skincare routine, I can feel my skin is glowing now. Now, I don’t have to worry about my protein consumption because prolgae helps to keep me sorted with their product, Spirulina.

Generally, I consume Spirulina in the morning by mixing it with the green vegetable juice which is a post-workout meal. I can feel that I can work out harder in the gym which is helping me to burn more calories.

How to deal with your fussy eater at home

As a mother, all my concentration is always on my child and whether or not she is eating the right kind and amount of food and if she is playing enough, if she is growing enough…and the questions don’t end there! The next question is always – what can I do to ensure she is growing right?

Nutrition plays a huge role when it comes to your child’s overall growth and development. Some time ago, I realized that my daughter was not eating well. When this was followed by her lethargy, tiredness and a general low feeling, I started to get concerned. I would see her friends playing and running around and here I couldn’t even get her to finish a glass of milk.

What is fussy eating?

I learnt that fussy eating is when your child rejects food based on its colour, texture, or even shape.[1] Once I understood that I wasn’t doing anything wrong, I calmed myself and read up a lot of articles to help me combat her fussy eating. These articles informed me that fussy eating can lead to growth concerns. That is when I decided it was time to visit her pediatrician.

How I dealt with a fussy eater?

Fussy eating isn’t permanent and there are some things you can do to change these bad eating habits. What I did? I started allowing her to help me in the kitchen. It took time, but she loves to help out now! She cleans the vegetables and fruits and helps with stirring pots. She has started to take interest in the food that she has helped cook. My fussy-eater daughter has improved slowly after we started cooking together. You should try this with your own, and see the result!

Some other things that I tried and they really worked for me was to listen to her and only feed her when she said she was hungry. This was hard to do because all my motherly instincts protested against it but it really helped. And I did not give up. I kept trying, giving her different types of food and even reintroducing previously rejected foods.

And yet there will be days when your child will refuse to cooperate at all! Having a fussy eater at home can create tension for a mother. I know, since I have one at home myself! As parents we know that our child needs high-quality protein for physical growth and vitamins and minerals for brain development in the crucial years. But getting them to eat is a task!

So, what was my next step? I looked for a health supplement that met all the nutrition needs of the fussy eater, and that it had the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) of vitamins and minerals. Since my pediatric told me that proteins are an important part of my child’s diet, I looked for that as well and finally zeroed in on PediaSure.

The health supplement that delivers

I decided to give PediaSure a try. After seeing the visible results in my daughter’s day to day activities, I insist you give it a try too!

Feed Your Kids with Proper Nutritional Requirement for their Steady Growth

We always wonder why mothers are constantly concerned about their child’s relationship with food, aren’t we? Why do they keep asking the same question about having food, every day? Well, to be honest, when I was young, I had similar thoughts. But, now that I have become a full-time working mommy, I understand the importance of nutrition for a child’s development.  Nowadays I look for nutritional drinks for my kid .

Nutritional drinkRecently, I had been invited to Grow Right meetup where I got a chance to exchange parenting experiences with the well-known, Bollywood actress, Lara Dutta, fellow influencers and pediatricians as well. We had a well-informed discussion about the significance of nutrition for children, physical activities, and the relationship of the child with their parents.

Grow rightThe gorgeous star mom, Lara Dutta bestowed her personal experiences on the journey of ‘being a mommy’. One of the famous Hosts and the emcee of the Grow Right discussion panel, Sachin Kumbar shared the challenges of parenthood and explained the difficulties that every mum has to go through while raising a child. Then, Dr. Mukesh Sanklecha, a renowned Child Specialist, elaborated the nutritional concerns a mother has for the proper growth of her child. A Nutritional expert, Dr. Dharini Krishnan, and Pediatrician, Dr. Samir Dalwai highlighted the importance of playing outdoors and how to deal with their behavioral problems for their overall development.

Nutritional drinkFrom what I have learnt throughout my journey of being a mommy and also the guidance of the specialists from the meetup, I have decoded some of the formulas that have helped me to match the nutritional requirement to fuel up the toddler’s growth and development. Just like adults, kids need the combination of balanced carbohydrates, fats, protein along with vitamins and minerals in their food. Nutritional drinks can make up for this loss in daily food.

So, check out these tips that might help you to give them wholesome nutritious food and learn the relationship of nutrition with the physical as well as mental development of your child.

a) Avoid eating out as often as possible

Food markets are filled with ready-to-cook or ready-to-eat packets that are combined with unhealthy fats and nutrition. Try to make home-cooked meals for your kids packed with green vegetables. Experiment with different flavors or toppings that might develop their taste and support their physical system for growth.

Recently, I discovered one of the best nutritional drinks in the market, Pediasure. Earlier, as I have told you that it has been recommended by the Pediatrician. The nutrition in this bottle has helped my daughter to gain healthy weight and enhanced her immune system. I would recommend Pediasure healthy and nutritional drink  to all the mothers out there.

b) Select meals by reading out the labels

With the growing trend of online food delivery, children are more interested to eat burgers and pizzas. I understand that sometimes outings can get a little tricky with food restriction. So, if you are planning a vacation or day out with your family, then look for the healthy options like idli-sambhar, egg sandwich or maybe a banana smoothie. It will not only make their tummy full for longer hours but provide them with complete nutrition.

c) Stick to proper meal times and create a feeding schedule

Healthy meals at structured timings improve your kid’s body and mind growth. Each mealtime should have a difference of at least 4 hours. It will have a great impact on physical and emotional development.

d) Encourage them to start a physical activity

Physical activity is a very crucial part our growing right. Rather than forcing my daughter to play by herself, I free up some time in my schedule to play with her every day. It is important for a kid to get at least 3 hours of play everyday.

e) Dealing with the child’s tantrums

This might be one of the toughest topics when it comes to guiding for parenthood. It can be a little tricky for sure. There is a very thin line between making them understand what’s wrong and right or howling at them for their mistakes. So, always try to have a calm discussion with them. Also, try to include them in small household activities like setting up the table, bringing their own plate and cleaning the mess after.

Parenting is a roller coaster journey. You can never become an expert on the topic of parenthood just by reading articles and books. You will get better when you experience it. Also, don’t be afraid to take guidance and advice from the Paediatrician.

Overall, the Grow Right event was an insightful one!
